Misinformation Clarified by OSFP

To the Editors:

We are writing to clarify some of the misinformation represented in last week’s Perspectives page, which concerns us as members of Oberlin Students for a Free Palestine.
SFP is a group of students (including Jews and Muslims) that opposes the oppression of Palestinians by the Israeli government and military. Within our group, we interpret this call in different ways. Each of us has different ideologies and visions of what a future political and social solution in Israel/Palestine could look like. As part of a solidarity movement, we don’t see it as our role to decide what the answer is (one state, two states, red state, Jew state).
We do see it as our role to support Palestinian resistance to Israeli occupation. We want to challenge to the best of our abilities the structure by means of which the Israeli state oppresses Palestinians, controlling their access to food, health care, water, shelter, jobs, each other, and a viable state.
