Sex Assault Trial Further Delayed
by Shahriar Kabir

This Wednesday at the Oberlin Municipal Court, the preliminary hearing for two Oberlin College students arraigned for rape was postponed until Oct. 31 due to undisclosed reasons.
Conforming to College procedure first-year Bosko Tomasevic and junior Djordje Eremic are still under temporary suspension “as their presence on campus could compromise the safety of others.”
The postponement initially ran until the Oct. 24, but because of Fall Break and the availability of witnesses it was further delayed.
In light of the two alleged sexual assaults and one alleged incident of domestic violence that have happened on campus over the past month the College’s Sexual Assault Support Team (SAST) organized a weeklong educational series for the Oberlin Community. Its aim was to teach topics such as sexual offense policy and the law, sexism and sexual offenses and consent. The SAST hopes the series will prevent future assaults.

The three days of interactive workshops culminated in two student discussion forums. The sessions were poorly attended, however, and some organizers felt that the anti-war campaign had overshadowed concerns about sexual assault.
