MRC Supports Students

To the Editor:

In light of the national tragedy that took place on Tuesday morning, the Multicultural Resource Center would like to express our concern and support for members of the Oberlin College community and their loved ones who are working through the crisis that has ensued.

We would especially like to show our continuing support for students of Middle Eastern and Arab descent as well as students of Muslim faith, who could experience heightened prejudice from individuals who are looking to assign blame. We also recognize that, as an office working with historically disenfranchised students, there is a possibility that hate and biased-based incidents might occur as a result of widely disseminated speculations from the media, government and other sources. We cannot stress enough that the MRC does not condone any such acts of prejudice, and we adamantly oppose any and all forms of racism.
As always, the MRC is available for support to all people who experience racism and discrimination, and we invite the entire campus to support one another through these trying times.
