Men's lax wins, loses

Depleted numbers lessen chances for win

by Dave Bechhoefer

The men's lacrosse team added another win last Saturday at home against out-of-region Marietta College, taking it 9-2. They then traveled to Ohio Wesleyan University on Wednesday only to be devoured 29-2.

The Yeomen dominated Saturday's game, accumulating 68 shots to Marietta's 16. Marietta had a very strong goal-keeper who limited those shots to just nine allowed goals. The score distribution saw junior Sam Krasnow put in four, sophomore Greg Scranton score two, and first-year John Steckel piled in three.

Against Ohio Wesleyan, who is currently second in the conference and ranked fifth in the nation, the Yeomen were short-staffed with only 13 players. Coach Jim Donovan said, "They are very talented and played with great effort and determination through the whole game."

The only two goals came from Steckel.

The team's record is now 3-8 overall, 0-5 in the North Coast Athletic Conference. They play conference opponent Kenyon College at home on Saturday and out-of-region Northwood University at home next Friday. This will be their last home game.
