Some OAR members holding hunger strike against animal use
Members of Oberlin Animal Rights began a three-week protest of a Neurosceincne 211 vivisection lab Thursday. In addition to protesting the series of six labs, members of the group will conduct a hunger strike.
Fetish Party shut down and Police arrest two
The fetish party at Banana House was shut down for underage drinking last Friday marking the second party to be shut down in as many weeks after Spring Break. Two town residents were arrested.
Department wants to educate students about limitations
Residential Life and Services circulated surveys this week to solicit student input on possible reforms of the dining service. The surveys will be part of a process to reform the dining services at Oberlin to better serve the interests of the students.

Admits' scores up slightly

Comet fascinates astronomy students and others
The comet Hale-Bopp is now visible in the night sky. An open viewing session is in the planning stages for next week at the Peters observatory. Fliers will be posted next week detailing when the viewing session will be held.
Center a place for all to discuss issues of gender, sexuality
A group of students met Thursday to discuss the organization of a Men's Center. The group gathered to take the preliminary steps toward securing space where all people could think about and discuss issues of gender, masculinity and sexuality.
Survey reveals student drug use statistics
The final report of the Alcohol/Drug force committee was issued and submitted to President of the College, Nancy Dye. The report summarized a year-long investigation process indicating that students believe illegal substance use is more prevalent than statistics indicate it is.
Administrators look forward to new projects
The college is planning a massive capital fundraising campaign to accumulate over $150 million within five years. The project is geared to help finance the large capital projects the college plans to undertake in the next few years.
Youngest Sierra Club President comes to OC
President of the Sierra Club, Adam Werbach, spoke to Oberlin students Tuesday. He called for students to get involved with environmental activism by participating in grass roots organizations such as the PIRG organizations.
OC investment grows with careful decisions
The college invests the endowment of $359 million in a diverse array of arenas. Investment managers control where the money goes with little say from the college about social responsibility in investing.
