Parying Manti victories unreported

To the Editor:

I am always delighted when I see something I am involved with reported in the newspaper, especially when the story is about my sport- ultimate frisbee. I am well aware that the only articles that are printed are written by the athletes themselves. Thus when I noticed a `Sports Brief' entitled "Ultimate Frisbee Team plays three tourneys," my eyes focused in for a breathtaking investigation in to the recent exploits of the women's and men's teams.

I was wrong. There was no mention of the women's team having won the tournament at Notre Dame on the second weekend of spring break, playing savage seven.

The Praying Manti began the day by beating a Chicago-Ann Arbor mix team 13-0 with some hot zone defense and upwind points. Then the Oberlin team took down the Notre Dame home team 13-5. Finally the Manti finished off the cold blustery day by winning over the University of Wisconsin-Madison Panacea team 13-6.

The Praying Manti also played at College Easterns in North Carolina the first weekend of spring break. The 20 plus women went 2-3 the first day, ravaging Eastern Carolina University 13-7, and beating Wesleyan in an upwind - downwind battle 13-12. The Manti lost to the UNCW Seaweed and Yale in two time-capped games. In the setting sun, the game against Rutgers University was called at 12-10 after Oberlin out scored Rutgers at least 2 to 1 after the half.

The second day of Easterns the Manti won 9-0 against University of Maryland, and went on to place second in the B pool after losing to Wesleyan 13-9.

Currently ranked tenth in the nation, the Praying Manti anticipate doing well at the Big Ten tournament in Madison, Wisconsin on April 12-13, and at sectionals April 19-20, to be held at Oberlin.
