Clinton protesters are few

Less than a dozen people gathered at Oberlin Democratic Headquarters yesterday to protest policies adopted by President Clinton. Protesters, angered by policies they perceive to be conservative, attacked a variety of policies ranging from welfare reform to the Defense of Marriage Act.

According to junior David Lin, who participated in the protest, ten people joined the rally. Democratic headquarters staff reported seeing four people protesting outside the office.

"It was pretty small," Lin said, "But we were pretty visible."

Lin attributed the low turnout to weather conditions. The protest ended early because of high winds.

"I think it was good we were there," junior Susan Moran said. "It was freezing and we could have gotten more people out."

The protest was organized by ACT-UP Oberlin, and joined by members of OhioPIRG. Members of OhioPIRG carried signs that read `Americans Against Political Corruption' and distributed materials advocating campaign finance reform.

"[Clinton] hasn't fulfilled a lot of his politics," Lin said. "he's strayed away from the left."
