Cole-Newkirk changes associate dean structure

New position, the Associate Dean for Campus Life created

by Sara Foss

Dean of Student Life and Services Charlene Cole-Newkirk has implemented a new associate dean structure.

A new position, Associate Dean for Campus Life, has been created. Joe DiChristina will serve in that position for the first semester. He will oversee the Student Union, the Office of Chaplains and the Judicial Board.

Ken Holmes, who last year worked as Special Assistant to Cole-Newkirk, is now the Associate Dean for Multiculturalism, another new deanship. He will oversee the Multicultural Resource Center, the Orientation Committee, the Conselling Center, Health Services and the budget.

Deb McNish will remain the Associate Dean for Residential Life. She will oversee Campus Dining Services, Conference Services, Housing and Dining and Residential Life.

Last year, Harry Dawe served as Associate Dean of Housing and Dining. But when Residential Life and Housing and Dining both became divisions of Residential Life, Dawes' deanship duties were reassigned to McNish.

Associate Dean of Academic Services Gloria White was moved from Student Life and Services to the College of Arts and Sciences. She now reports to Acting Dean of the College Clayton Koppes.

The Office of Career Services no longer reports to Cole-Newkirk, but to Dan Gardner, the director of the Center for Service and Learning.
