Oberlin Student Arrested for Assault

Conservatory students were shocked to hear on Wednesday of the arrest of their own sophomore voice major Emily Nowell.

Two students arrived at the Oberlin Police Department on Monday to make statements against Nowell, claiming that she was the assailant in an altercation on the night of Saturday, March 1. The complainants wished to remain anonymous, saying that they feared for their safety.

Nowell, who voluntarily turned herself in to the OPD, was arrested on one charge of assault and released on her own recognizance. She appeared in Oberlin Municipal Court for her arraignment this morning.
