Pizza and Jazz: Oberlin's Community Service Fair

Obies Line Up to Volunteer Students at the community service fair were treated to a wealth of volunteer opportunities, free food, and the smooth stylings of the Oberlin Jazz Trio.

Non-profit organizations from across northeast Ohio set up tables at Tuesday’s Community Service Fair with the hope of enticing Obies to volunteer. More than 20 organizations competed for student volunteers.

Representatives from Ohio PIRG, Hearthstone Assisted Living, the Mount Olivet Church after school program, the annual Big Parade and many more were there to attract students.

Those passing through the Science Center Atrium were also treated to musical entertainment courtesy of the Oberlin Jazz Trio at the event.

College sophomore Nick Rosano of Oberlin in Solidarity with El Salvador said that more than 100 students stopped by the group’s table. The student organization sends delegations during Winter Term and the summer to do work such as volunteering at a local radio station and teaching English.
