STOP KISS, a play focusing on issues of identity and sexuality, features College senior Liza Dickinson as Callie, a New York City traffic reporter who develops a relationship with new-to-the-big-city Sara, played by College junior Gabriela Trigo-McIntyre. As their love blooms, they must deal with the violence and tragedy that follow their decisions.

Playwright Diana Son crafts the plot by utilizing a nonlinear narrative, and structures the play with short abrupt scenes revolving around one specific moment — the title kiss — which leads to an exploration of the ramifications of social transgressions in contemporary culture. Directed by Justin Emeka, OC ’95, this production, with its progressive themes, is expected to appeal especially to Oberlin students.

Sponsored by the Oberlin College Theater and Dance program, STOP KISS will be performed in Oberlin College’s Hall Auditorium Friday and Saturday, April 21 and 22, at 8 p.m. and Sunday, April 23, at 2 p.m. Tickets are available through Central Ticketing.
