ResEd plans dining changes

With the deadline for next year’s housing and dining request forms looming overhead, Obies were asked to make some important decisions this week.

Residential Education and Dining Services, however, has added to the already long list of possible options in hope of satisfying student desires. ResEd compiled recent survey information and created several new dining choices effective next fall.

The first of these, a 12-meal plan, was designed in response to student complaints that 10 meals a week was too few but 14 too many.

“There was frustration expressed about missed meals,” stated ResEd Associate Director Michelle Gross. “Students felt like they were losing money.”

This plan will cost $3,870 for the year and include 165 dollars in flex points.

Other new options are for upperclassmen living in village housing or off campus and interested in cooking for themselves. These are a five and seven meal plan, both with no flex, and are the least expensive alternatives offered by the College.

“The only requirement for these plans is that you have access to a kitchen,” Gross said.

Students will also have one guest meal per month, which can be used, in lieu of flex, to swipe in a visitor.
