David Stull takes over Con

Acting Conservatory Dean David Stull accepted the position of Dean of the Conservatory to applause at a Conservatory faculty meeting Tuesday. Stull thanked the faculty and emphasized the importance of quality in Conservatory education.

“People come to the Conservatory because they want to study music,” Stull said. “Teaching is our primary responsibility. The education we give students must serve them for the next 40, 50 or 60 years of their lives. I can say from experience that we have the finest faculty in the country and now it is my challenge to ensure the faculty continues to have the resources to realize its potential.”

Stull said he sees the Conservatory as a preserver of historical music and an innovator of new music.

He also mentioned that the Conservatory has received a record number of applications for next year. He said admissions have currently received 44 matriculation deposits, many of which were from their top picks.
