Benjamin Caraco

Benjamin Caraco, born 1983, after exploring majors in neuroscience and physics, found his direction in the 3-2 engineering major, a path in harmony with the thought that began his Oberlin application personal essay.

“Some people paint. Others write poetry. I invent. I have an unrelenting desire to take things apart, to understand how they work, and to build new devices,” he wrote as a high schooler.
Called “the fix-it boy” in elementary school, Ben was in the process of rebuilding a Harley-Davidson from a box of parts. Ben had an interest in engines, and was going to study mechanical engineering at Columbia University in the fall.
