Yeowomen run at Kent State invite

Three members of the Oberlin indoor track and field teams traveled to Kent State University for the Golden Flash Gala held last Friday and Saturday.

“It was a great start for the three competitors that traveled to the meet,” head coach Jason Hudson said.

Senior Shannon Houlihan, a co-captain for the women’s team, leapt 10.27 meters in the triple jump, placing ninth of 17.

In the 200-meter dash, junior Teresa Collins finished in 28.01 seconds to place in the faster half of the competitors.

Senior Faye Doherty participated in two events. She ran 11.65 in the 60 meter hurdles for preliminaries which set a school record, according to Hudson.

Doherty also had a 4.17-meter long jump in preliminaries.

Both the men’s and the women’s indoor track teams have meets during Winter Term, though with a smaller squad. The first home meet will be on Feb. 13.
