Review Security Notebook

Nov. 13, 8:31 a.m. Officers and Oberlin Fire Department responded to a fire alarm at Old Barrows. The cause of the alarm was found to be smoke from food cooking. The area was cleared of smoke and the alarms reset.

Nov. 13, 10 a.m. A staff member reported that her vehicle was egged while parked in Baldwin Lot. The vehicle was washed and minor scratches remained on the passenger side of the vehicle.

Nov. 13, 7:51 p.m. A resident of Asia House reported a strong odor of marijuana coming from a room on the second floor. Officers responded and located the room. Nothing was found burning. A glass pipe and rolling papers were confiscated.

Nov. 14, 12:41 a.m. An RA from Barrows Hall reported students smoking marijuana on the first floor. Officers responded and located the individuals responsible. The smoke detector in the room was also observed to be bagged. A glass bowl was confiscated and students were advised the matter would be turned over to Student Life.

Nov. 14, 11:20 a.m. A student reported the theft of her bicycle from the bike rack at Talcott Hall. The bicycle is a Roadmaster, royal blue, men’s 21 speed. The bicycle was secured at the time of theft.

Nov. 15, 3:27 a.m. Officers and Oberlin Fire Department responded to a fire alarm at Allencroft. The cause of the alarm was smoke from cigarettes. An electrician responded to replace the detector.

Nov. 15, 8:34 a.m. A staff member at Stevenson kitchen requested a medical transport for an employee who cut her thumb while slicing bagels. The employee was transported to Allen Medical Center for treatment.

Nov. 15, 9:45 a.m. A student reported that her bicycle was stolen from the Science Center. The bicycle is an Elik-River, black, 15 speed, men’s. The value is unknown.

Nov. 15, 10:37 p.m. Officers and Oberlin Fire Department responded to a fire alarm in Barrows Hall, third floor. Steam from cooking rice activated the alarm.

Nov. 16, 12:02 a.m. An RA reported a strong odor of burning incense on the first floor of Lord. Officers responded and located the room. The incense was confiscated and disposed of.

Nov. 16, 4:55 p.m. A staff member at Wilder DeCafe reported a student attempting to steal two cups of coffee. The student was advised the incident would be referred to Student Life.

Nov. 17, 1:52 p.m. A representative from Cuyahoga Vending reported vandalism to the vending machine at Barrows Hall. Unknown person(s) attempted to pry open the snack machine and broke the light. A salt solution had been inserted into the pop machine and shorted out the computer. The vending machine was posted out of order until repairs are made.

Nov. 18, 2 p.m. A staff member reported backing into a parked vehicle in the Service Building parking lot. The owner of the parked vehicle was located. There was minor vehicle damage, no injuries.
