Student gives endorsement

To the Editors:

I'm writing to endorse Eve Sandberg, Daniel Gardner and Charles Peterson for the Oberlin City Council, and to encourage you to consider casting your vote for them next Tuesday.

I've worked with Eve, Daniel and Charles quite a bit over the past few months, and I've gotten to know these fantastic, smart, hardworking individuals quite well.

They are extremely passionate about Oberlin, and more importantly, about what Oberlin can be.

They have numerous ideas about what a more pro-active City Council can do to encourage more businesses in the downtown area, in order to provide more opportunities for all Oberlin residents, to improve the housing situation, and to make Oberlin an even more environmentally friendly town.

But they aren't just passion and talk. They are leaders that believe in getting things done.

In fact, they've already started figuring out ways to put their ideas into action by meeting with banks, outside businesses, and local community officials to see how the plans can be implemented.

Several ways to accomplish this have involved researching avenues of state and federal funding for some of their programs, as well as talking with residents across the town to gain their input.

In short, these aren't just some campaign pledges that will disappear the day after the election.

You don't have to take my word for it, though. Take some time to read up on them, or come meet them at the City Council Candidate's Forum next Monday night. Copies of their platform and some information about them can be found at key locations around campus such as in the mailroom, in the library, at Wilder, in the lounges at King and so forth. Check it out and see for yourself.

And finally, whomever you end up supporting — get out there and vote on Tuesday. Polls are open till 7:30.
