Choose the three
To the Editors: This Tuesday, Nov. 4 Oberlin will elect a new City Council. The field of candidates is significantly broader than usual, with fifteen people vying for seven seats. This new energy in City politics is exactly what the town needs to be able to stand up to the forces of sprawl and economic recession that now threaten Oberlin. I am particularly excited about three candidates running as a slate: Eve Sandberg, Charles Peterson and Daniel Gardener. These three have an active and ambitious platform for supporting education in Oberlin, revitalizing the economy in the city, and taking steps to make housing vacated by students available and attractive to families. But more important, I have had the opportunity to meet with all of these candidates and I have been impressed with the energy and the compassion that they bring to city issues. I think they will add a much needed spark to City Council and all of Oberlin. On Tuesday, please join me in voting for Eve Sandberg, Charles Peterson and Daniel Gardener. —Georgia Hollister-Isman |
