Use of Excessive Force against Oberlin students
The Student Senate of Oberlin College is greatly alarmed by the arrests of three Oberlin College students on Saturday September 29. Although we recognize that the details of the incident are still under investigation, Senate condemns even the possibility of the use of excessive force, especially if discriminatory.
We are encouraged by the prompt actions of both the College and the City to investigate this incident. We hope that the promised mediation and investigations occur as swiftly, thoroughly, and transparently as possible. We will closely watch the ongoing proceedings and continue to promote the privacy and rights of our fellow students.

Student Senate Fall Elections: Nominations Open
Make Oberlin a better place: run for Student Senate.
Nominations are now open. Email senate@oberlin.edu with the names of students you'd like to nominate by Tuesday, Sept. 17. You may nominate yourself, you may nominate as many students as you like, and your nominations will be kept anonymous. Once this nomination period is complete you will receive another email announcing the beginning of the election, which will fill 11 of the 15 Student Senate seats.
At least one student senator must be a Conservatory or double degree student, so we especially encourage such students to run.
If you have any questions, please let us know by emailing senate@oberlin.edu.
We have also created a candidate guide that contains more information about the election.

Help Us Make a Guide to Educate the President
Can't make the forums? Have more to say?
We're compiling a guide about Oberlin students and student issues so that Mr. Krislov can better understand who we are, what we stand for, and what changes Oberlin should, and shouldn't, make.
Please submit material to help us make this guide: submissions@oberlinsenate.org
Organizations can send descriptions of who they are and what they do, students working to change Oberlin can send briefings on what they've been doing, individuals can send stories of their experiences (both good and bad) at Oberlin. Anything that will help Mr. Krislov understand us and our odd Obieness.
Submissions Deadline: June 30 - submissions@oberlinsenate.org
