Raised by Revelers (the DC equivalent of gypsies), Spencer was exposed to musical theatre at an early age, scarring him permanently. After watching The Music Man for the 1500th time and contemplating his love for the barbershop music contained in the show, Spencer decided to devote himself to musical theatre. Upon singing with a barbershop quartet in an instance of the aforementioned musical, though, Spencer realized that his true love was actually a cappella performance. He entered high school with a bang by becoming one of the founding members of the co-ed a cappella group CHAOS. During his sophomore year, a fairy bequeathed unto him the rare and valuable +5 Broadsword of Vocal Percussion, which he wields valiantly to this day. After four years of musical theatre and a cappella at his high school, Spencer experienced severe withdrawal symptoms over the summer and set his sights on joining the Obertones in the fall of his freshman year at Oberlin. A stunning audition and several favors later, he was accepted into the group. Yes, Spencer is 22. Yes, he is a fourth year.
