The Oberlin Pagan Awareness Network is a student organization dedicated to the exploration of modern and traditional paganism and improving negative impressions of paganism. OPAN holds weekly meetings on Thursdays at 10 PM in Wilder 109, where other, more formal gatherings and workshops are planned (or at least talked about in a wistful manner). OPAN also holds an annual, members-only Samhain/Halloween Retreat and Bonfire. We also have sporadic open bonfires at the firepit on Tappan Square.
OPAN's biggest and best-known event is our annual Beltane Festival, during which we take over Tappan Square and populate it with human chess, people in Renaissance garb, and vendors selling pagan and medieval materials, as well as free food, entertainment, and an all-day bonfire.
