Choosing a Program
Other Programs
and Alternatives
If your program or
institution is not listed as an ENR, Consortial or Oberlin
Affiliated Program, it is considered a non-affiliated program.
If an Oberlin student has been on the program in the
past it will be listed on the Complete Study Away Program
List available in the Study Away Library. Please check
in the Study Away Library to determine whether any Oberlin
student has attended the program. If your program is on the
list, then proceed with the application as usual.
Eligible students may
apply federal aid to these programs
as determined by
the Office of Financial Aid.
If you choose
a new program or institution to which an Oberlin student has
not previously gone, you must take two additional steps:
Secure
the signature (with date) of the chair of your major department
on one or two pages of photocopied material that presents
pertinent details about your program or institution.
Attach these signed and dated pages to your ALOA application
to introduce the Off Campus Study Committee to this new program
or institution. Bear in mind that your chair may want
to see other material such as brochures, booklets, handouts,
etc.
As you
approach various department chairs to secure transfer of credit
signatures, show the chairs the program pages signed and dated
by your major department chair.
Note:
Program status will be checked when you hand in your ALOA
application. If your program is new, your application
will not be accepted without the program pages signed
and dated
by your major department chair.
