While
You Are Away
Extending
or Changing Your Leave of Absence
If your academic
leave is granted for one semester and you wish to extend your
leave you must formally apply to extend your study away status.
The deadline for extending a fall semester leave is
October 15 for Spring 2010. You must request a new online
ALOA application from the Study Away Office and complete it
by the deadline along with new transfer of credit forms and
a new Study Away Approval form. We will accept
the approval form and transfer of credit form by email or
fax. If you are applying to continue on the same program,
you will not be charged an additional study away fee. If
you are switching programs for your second semester of leave,
an additional $1,275 study away fee will be applied. The
Off-Campus Study Committee will review your application for
extension with the same rigor as an initial ALOA application.
If
you want to inquire about going from your academic leave to
a personal leave (PLOA), contact the Study Away Office. You
may download the PLOA application from the Office of the Dean
of Studies website at www.oberlin.edu/dstudies.
Please remember that on a personal leave you may transfer
a maximum of 6 credits per semester. The deadline
for a Personal Leave of Absence for the Fall
semester is the first Friday in May. The deadline
for a Personal Leave of Absence for the Spring semester is
the first Friday in December.
