About
The Multicultural Resource Center (MRC) sponsors, co-sponsors, and
supports projects and programs on diversity at Oberlin College.
The purpose of the center is to serve as a resource for people
who have been historically disenfranchised from higher education.
The MRC works to support people of color, and lesbian, gay, bisexual
and transgender people as well as address the concerns of low-income,
international and first-generation college students.
The MRC is
staffed by one Director and four Community Coordinators who provide
support for students and student organizations, organize and implement social
and cultural programs, advocate for their respective communities, and work to
build coalitions among communities. The center also provides resources, education
and training for those generally interested in issues of diversity and multiculturalism,
including faculty, staff, and students. At the MRC, the goal is to provide the
institutional and administrative structures necessary to support Oberlin's
commitment to a diverse social and liberal arts environment.
