Linda Gates: Dean of Students

As Dean of Students, Dean Gates serves on the President’s Senior Staff and oversees the Division of Student Life, which includes the Offices of Safety and Security, the Counseling Center, Student Health Services, the Center for Leadership in Health Promotion, the Multicultural Center, Religious and Spiritual Life, Student Academic Services, the Student Union, Club Sports, Residential Education, and Dining. She consults and collaborates with staff members in the Office of the Dean of Students, Deans and Directors within the Division, faculty, staff, and students to provide leadership and support for the educational mission of the College.
Adrian Bautista: Associate Dean of Student Life

In addition to serving as Dean for the Class of 2012, Dean Bautista is the Judicial Coordinator for traditional housing area of campus. He also administers funds for students in emergency situations, is the administrative liaison for the Edmonia Lewis Center for Women and Transgender People, and provides oversight and coordination of first-year experience initiatives, and collaborates with other campus offices to provide support services and community connections for students exploring the broader Lorain County community.
Eric Estes: Associate Dean of Academic Diversity; Director of the Multicultural Resource Center (MRC)

As an Associate Dean in both the College of Arts and Sciences and the Division of Student Life, Dean Estes works on a range of curricular and faculty diversity initiatives as well as student diversity and inclusion issues and concerns. The MRC supports the academic and personal needs of historically underrepresented students in higher education, especially students of color, LGBTQ students, first generation, and lower income students. At the same time, the MRC creates opportunities for the entire campus community to engage with intellectual discourses around diversity and inclusion and to develop critical thinking skills that are crucial for the educational experience of all students. Teaching several courses each year, Dean Estes is also a faculty member in Comparative American Studies, History, and the Institute for Gender, Sexuality, and Feminist Studies. As a certified affirmative action professional and certified mediator, he collaborates around equity concerns especially as faculty chair of the Committee on Equity and Diversity and as a member of the Oberlin College Dialogue Center. He is also a member of the Oberlin Shansi Board of Trustees.
Kimberly Jackson Davidson: Associate Dean of Students

Dean Davidson welcomes opportunities to meet and work with students in a variety of ways. She is the Judicial Coordinator for non-traditional housing and non-residential areas of campus and is the liaison for the Honor System. Dean Davidson is responsible for the annual publication of Student Regulations, Policies and Procedures and provides Dean’s Certifications for those applying to professional schools and for government employment. In addition, she coordinates the class dean system. Dean Davidson contributes to the campus community and is enriched through her affiliation with the Oberlin College Dialogue Center.
Lori K. Morgan Flood: Assistant Dean/Director of the Center for Leadership in Health Promotion

In addition to being Class Dean for 5th year students, Dean Flood is responsible for the administration of health promotion services and activities for students. She directs the Center for Leadership in Health Promotion staffed by a group of peer health advocates (Wilder 314). Members of the center are dedicated to promoting the health and well-being of the college community by providing students with resources, educational programs, and support necessary to lead healthy lives through the connection of mind, body, and spirit. Dean Flood also serves as an on-call dean, and collaborates on campus health promotion initiatives. Areas of focus for the 2009-2010 academic year include health education theater and outreach, OBFIT ’09, sexual health education, fitness, sexualized violence prevention, and alcohol/tobacco/other drug abuse prevention.
Shozo Kawaguchi: Associate Dean of Community Life

Dean Kawaguchi is responsible for facilitating the on-going process of building campus community. He serves as Dean of the First-Year Class. Dean Kawaguchi’s other responsibilities include: advising the Student Senate; organizing assessment projects; administering capital equipment and maintenance budgets; and managing the on-call system. In addition, he supervises the Student Union staff.
Barbara Kirby: Administrative Technician II

Ms. Kirby enjoys becoming acquainted with students and other visitors as she fulfills the administrative duties that support several key initiatives of the Office of the Dean of Students. She maintains records for student workers, two emergency funds, and the Judicial System. Ms. Kirby assists in preparing Dean Certifications and provides general administrative support to the Multicultural Resource Center, the Edmonia Lewis Center for Women and Transgender People, as well as for new student orientation.
Barbara Lucky: Administrative Assistant

Ms. Lucky supports the office by providing comprehensive support to the staff, particularly to the Dean of Students. She welcomes students, faculty, staff, and parents to the office. Ms. Lucky also provides support for the Class Deans, the Center for Leadership in Health Promotions, and Parents and Family Weekend.
