The Giller Prize was founded in 1994 by Toronto businessman Jack Rabinovitch in memory of his late wife, literary journalist Doris Giller, to highlight excellence in creative writing. The winner receives a bronze statue and a prize of $25,000, making it Canada's most lucrative literary award.
