Booker Prize, 2005-1995

The Booker Prize (or The Booker McConnell Prize, for the more exacting among you) was founded in 1969 by Booker McConnell, a multinational conglomerate company. Administered by the National Book League in the United Kingdom, this prestigious award is awarded to the best full-length novel written in English by a citizen of the UK, the Commonwealth, Eire, Pakistan, or South Africa. In 1992, Booker teamed up with The Tetra Pak Laval Group in Russia to create the Russian Booker Prize. In April 2002, the Booker Prize Foundation (BPF) announced that the Man Group had been chosen as the new sponsor for the Booker Prize for Fiction. The new agreement is for a period of five years during which the prize will be known as the Man Booker Prize for Fiction.
