What we do

While we do sponsor some activities on campus (notably ArtsFest) SPACE is primarily an arts policy group. We don’t directly put on shows. Instead we push for what the entire broader arts community needs and wants – safe, properly outfitted, visible spaces and opportunities to produce, rehearse, perform and display our craft.

Currently SPACE is developing wider opportunities for student arts on campus through the new South Basement Rehearsal Spaces and ArtsFest, an annual weekend celebration of performing and visual arts events across campus. Our long-term goal is the establishment of a Student Arts Center that would house performance, rehearsal, production and exhibition spaces. We make use of available resources by working with Oberlin’s president, ResEd, the Department of Theater and Dance, and the Student Union.
