ArtsFest '07

ArtsFest'07 is here! Check the schedule, sign up for workshops, and come celebrate the arts at Oberlin all weekend from Thursday the 12th through Sunday the 15th!

History

In 2006, the SPACE Committee sponsored the first annual ArtsFest—a whirlwind weekend of visual arts exhibits, dance, music and theater performances, and a 24-hour new play competition, judged by a panel that included President Nancy Dye. ArtsFest showcases the array of talent that will fill the Oberlin Arts Center once it has been completed as well as the amazing opportunity such a center would provide our already thriving artistic community. It offers student artists the chance to reach greater and more diverse audiences across campus by showcasing the innovative and unique work in each of the arts and sparking collaboration between artistic disciplines.

Last year's Fest included performances by student bands and improv groups, a community mural, student films projected onto the side of the Mudd Library and an original adaptation of a Ray Bradbury short story. Students taught workshops on Photoshop, collage, and 16mm filmmaking, swing dancing and contact juggling. This year, ArtsFest will aim higher, continuing to saturate the campus with unusual, creative projects that encourage spontaneity and collaboration that will have a lasting impact on both departmental and co-curricular arts everywhere at Oberlin. Please e-mail or for more information, including how you can be involved.
