The Student Arts Center

Like the Science Center and the new Jazz Studies building, an Arts Center at Oberlin will be a home to a way of learning, an embodiment of the great creative traditions that continue at Oberlin today. The center will be a performance and visual arts complex run entirely by students and dedicated to extracurricular theater, dance, visual arts, and interdisciplinary productions. This facility is distinguished from those at other schools in that it will be entirely student-run, allowing students experience in arts management of a scale unmatched by our peer institutions. This environment – by students, for students - will allow ideas to flourish and flow between the artistic disciplines and enable innovative collaborative that will enrich the entire college community.

Our goal is for the center to consist of a main stage black box theater, a second stage "cabaret"-style theater, design and rehearsal studios, gallery space and screening rooms. It will not be simply another building but a unique and lasting addition to Oberlin College life for years to come.
