numbers that people can call concerning the events of September 11:
- United Airlines
has set up a hotline for friends and family of people on flights 93
and 175. They can call 1-800-932-8555.
- American Airlines
has set up a hotline for friends and family of people on flights 11
and 77. They can call 1-800-245-0999.
- Morgan Stanley,
which had offices in the World Trade Center, has a hotline for friends
and family concerned about employees. They can call 1-888-883-4391.
- St. Vincent's Hospital
in New York, which is treating many victims, can be reached at 212-604-7285.
- The University
of California, Berkeley, is hosting a website
for individuals who cannot contact family members or friends by telephone,
or who would like to post reports about individuals who are safe.
Here's a list of organizations
that offer ways to help victims and their families:
- American
Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund--The American Red Cross is providing
lifesaving assistance to victims and emergency workers in New York,
Washington D.C., and Pennsylvania. Or, bring your spare
change to a grocery store and help the Red Cross bring relief to
disaster victims across the country.
- The
September 11 Fund--United Way and The New York Community Trust have
established this fund to mobilize resources to respond to the urgent
needs of victims and their families affected by the events of September
11.
- The Salvation Army--make
a donation online
or call 1-800-SAL-ARMY.
- Feed the Children--make
a donation online
or call 1-800-525-7575.
- To donate blood,
call 1-800-GIVE-LIFE or check online
to find a blood bank near you.
