Oberlin College Resources

Paul Sciortino '90 has set up a message board for Oberlin students and alums who are trying to contact each other in the aftermath of Tuesday's events.

Oberlin College's librarians have put together a guide for individuals seeking information about the events that occurred on September 11. The list, intended to assist the Oberlin College community in seeking information to understand the political, religious, economic, and cultural contexts relating to the events of September 11, is available online and in print form at the main library.

Other resources available on campus:

  • Many students, faculty and staff members are experiencing difficult and complex feelings regarding the tragic events of September 11. Our equilibrium and typical coping styles may seem inadequate or inappropriate, in our attempts to regain our composure or a state of normalcy. For a description of reactions to crises and suggestions for self-care and coping see the counseling center's web site.
  • Students who wish to call family members may use phones in the Student Life offices in Wilder 105.
  • Television monitors have been set up in Wilder Lounge.
  • Incoming telephone calls to the College operator from parents and family members will be routed to the office of Residential Life and Services (x8472) where staff will be available to relay messages and contact information.
  • Fairchild chapel in Bosworth is open and accessible to all.
  • Faculty members have been asked to continue to meet with their classes and to offer support to students and others in classes and outside of class.
  • Oberlin Online will be the main source of updated campus information.
