Breathing Easier: Chemistry Professor Studies Ways to Lower Air Pollution

Assistant Professor of Chemistry Matthew Elrod uses his research to fight air pollution and to improve federal standards of air quality control. Elrod, who works in the field of laboratory atmospheric science, studies the chemical processes that cause elevated levels of ozone in the Earth's atmosphere. Research such as Elrod's has been instrumental in enforcing the Clean Air Act of 1970, and keeping the topic of air pollution on the mind of many Americans.
