Research
is Just a Trip to the Beach for New Geology Professor

Assistant Professor of Geology Laura Moore never imagined that
her career would center around frequent trips to the beach.
But that's exactly where the newest member of Oberlin's geology
department does her field work, studying the processes that
change the Earth's coastal environments.

Breathing Easier: Chemistry Professor Studies Ways to Lower
Air Pollution

Assistant Professor of Chemistry Matthew Elrod uses his research
to fight air pollution and to improve federal standards of air
quality control. Elrod, who works in the field of laboratory
atmospheric science, studies the chemical processes that cause
elevated levels of ozone in the Earth's atmosphere. Research
such as Elrod's has been instrumental in enforcing the Clean
Air Act of 1970, and keeping the topic of air pollution on the
mind of many Americans. Read more about Elrod and his research
in the newest Faculty Observation.
