Oberlin College proudly offers Village housing for any students with four or more semesters in residence. This popular College-owned housing option includes small, domestic-style houses as well as several styles of apartments, offering the privacy and space of post-collegiate life while retaining the conveniences of College-maintained property. Approximately 375 students live in Village housing and while Third-Year students can live in Village housing, preference through the school's lottery housing system is given to Fourth-Year students. Additionally, Village housing is part of the Senior Year Residential Experience (SYRE). The SYRE program is an initiative seeking to enhance students' final year at Oberlin through a variety of experiences designed to foster growth and reflection on their years in attendance. The five Village Assistants (VAs) and one Resident Director coordinate programs designed to help students with their job or graduate school searches, on-going life skills and adjusting to life after graduation.
