Langston
Langston, commonly referred to as North Hall, is the largest hall on campus housing nearly 240 students. There are a variety of room types in Langston, quads and doubles and largest number of singles of all the halls on campus. The variety of rooms, combined with Langston's size, gives the hall an active community many find enjoyable. Opening onto a green on the south side, Langston is just a short walk from the Philips Physical Education Center and athletic fields. Langston has small study lounges found throughout the hall as well as a graciously large Starlight Lounge on the second floor with a painted ceiling displaying the lounge's namesake. Programs in this lounge have ranged from steel drum bands and mocktails to tea times and chats. Kitchenettes are also spread across all of Langston allowing for larger groups or for individuals to cook their own meals if they so choose.
Currently, Langston houses the Science-Fiction and the Transfer wing on its second and third floors, respectively. The Resident Assistant (RA) and students on the Science-Fiction wing plan programs based around novels, games, films and much more while the Resident Assistant (RA) for the Transfer wing works on programs geared towards helping students acclimate to a new college. Students must request to live on the Science-Fiction wing and transfer students, unless requesting otherwise, are preferably placed on the Transfer wing. The hall also has an all-female wing on the second floor.
