New Students
Welcome!
Welcome to Oberlin College! This page has all the information you'll need about housing and dining as an incoming student. If you have any questions, feel free to check out the main Residential Education & Dining Services website, or contact the Office.
Completing Required Forms
All students are required to submit a Housing and Dining Application and ID photo. Students selecting special housing options must submit a separate application form. Students may also choose to deposit Obie Dollars at this time.
Submitting your Online Housing and Dining Application
Late Applicants
To submit your housing and dining application, you must first log on to ObieMail, Oberlin College's web-based e-mail system, to establish your Oberlin e-mail account. To do this, you need your ObieMail username and password. Your username is printed on the cover of your BIg Book of Forms; your password is set to your birth date in MMDDYYYY format. Change your password when you log on to ObieMail for the first time.
Once you have established your e-mail account, use your ObieMail user name and password to log on to the online application system. Please note that the application is best viewed with Internet Explorer 5 or higher, Netscape 4.7 or higher, Mozilla/Firefox, or Safari.
The application is due by 12:00 midnight EST on Friday, 6/13. The applications can be edited until 9:00 a.m. EST on Monday, 6/16.
Students who miss the deadline or are late applicants will be given an opportunity to access the website between 12:01 a.m. on Friday, 6/20 to 9:00am on Monday, 6/30. Since your late application is past the initial deadline, we will not be able to guarantee that you get any of your top housing options. It is important that you complete the application and submit all required forms as soon as possible.
Submitting Special Housing Applications
- The quiet-living option is a choice for students who wish to be in a 24-hour quiet environment. Download the Quiet Floor application
- Substance-free housing is for those who want to live in a community free from alcohol, tobacco, and other drugs. Students choose substance-free housing for a variety of reasons. Some are committed to a substance-free lifestyle based on personal or family history, while others choose the option based on the environment attained from the absence of alcohol and other drug use. Download the Substance-Free Housing application.
- New students may also apply to any of nine different program houses. Four program houses - French, German, Russian, and Spanish - are based on foreign language and culture. The other program houses focus on culture or academic interest and include Afrikan Heritage, Asia, Hebrew, and Third World houses, as well as the Women's Collective. Note: You may choose to apply to up to four Program Houses. If applying to more than one, be sure to rank your choices on the application and submit a separate application for each House. Download the Program House application.
Other Information:
Apart from Traditional, First-Year-Experience, and Transfer Student housing, Oberlin College offers three special housing options. If you are interested in any of these options, select them on your Housing and Dining Application and submit the appropriate application below.
Each of the applications below is a Microsoft Word document with forms enabled. After filling out all the required information, please send the application as an attachment to resed@oberlin.edu.
