Housing

Special Interest Houses

Apart from Traditional and First-Year-Experience housing, Oberlin College offers three special housing options. If you are interested in any of these options, please submit a Special Interest Housing Application.

  • East - Quiet Floor Housing is a choice for students who wish to be in a 24-hour quiet enviroment.

  • Barnard - Substance Free Housing is for those who want to live in a community free from alcohol, tobacco, and other drugs. Students choose substance-free housing for a variety of reasons. Some are committed to a substance-free lifestyle based on personal or family history, while others choose the option based on the environment attained from the absence of alcohol and other drug use.

  • Recovery Housing:

Additionally, the Office of Residential will designate a substance free house for those students who are recovering from substance abuse issues and want to live within a dedicated supportive environment.

An application is required. Students applying for Recovery Housing must provide documentation of successful treatment from a Treatment Provider or a Treatment Program. The application can be downloaded from the Res Ed website.
