Traditional Housing

Single Room Selection Process

Over 266 regular and 23 super single rooms will be available in traditional residence halls. Students wanting to select a single room may choose either a single or a super single.

In addition, some quads and on campus apartments will be offered for assignment with a capacity of two students per unit. These rooms will be billed at the single rate or apartment rate respectively and selected through the group housing procedures. See Group Housing for group housing procedures.

  • Students with the highest semesters in residence and lowest random lottery numbers who rank "single room" as a choice under "housing preference" will be invited to select a single room.
  • A list of students invited to select single rooms, along with their appointment times, will be posted outside Stevenson-Griswold and on our website March 30, 2009.
  • It is your responsibility to check for your appointment time. No individual notices are sent. Students on the list will select their rooms on April 4. Those who fail to show up will forfeit their priority for a single-room option.
Group Housing (Roommate Pairs and Triples) Application Process
  • Most students enter the housing selection process as a group. Group-application forms are available on line on February 13, 2009.
  • Groups of three for the triple rooms, and groups of two (or any even number up to 16) for on campus apartments, doubles and quads must submit their applications before 5 p.m. Friday, March 20, 2009, to Residential Education in Stevenson-Griswold .
  • You must know the T numbers of your group members to when submitting your group application. This confirms your requested roommate status. Only one application should be submitted per group. An individual student cannot be part of more than one group.
  • If you do not have a roommate, the Personal Profile section of the on-line application will help to match you with a roommate but without a designated roommate you will not automatically be entered into the group selection process.
  • All groups will be ranked by group-priority values (the sum of the semesters in residence numbers divided by the number of group members) assigned to each application. To differentiate between group applications with the same group-priority value, the group members' random lottery numbers will be averaged.
  • Appointment times will be posted outside Stevenson-Griswold and on line on March 30, 2009. No individual notifications will be made. It is you responsibility to check for your appointment time.
  • All members of the group will have the same appointment time. However, any member of the group or a designated proxy may keep the appointment and select housing for the group.
  • Appointments must be kept by a group representative or their proxy or priority will be forfeited. Selection is April 4, 2009.
  • Group representatives should be prepared to represent the group in a variety of circumstances; they should be aware of the feelings of their group members concerning roommate pairing and housing preferences.
  • If housing is available at the time of your appointment that fits the size of your group, whether it is in your preferred location on not, you must select from the housing available at the time of your appointment.
  • Signed housing agreements are turned in at the time of room selection. If you are proxying for members of your group please be sure to have their Student T number and meal plan information at this time.
  • Please Note: It is not always possible or feasible to notify you of a vacancy in your chosen housing over the summer. Roommates are encouraged to communicate changes in their plans (taking a leave, accepting another housing assignment, etc.) This gives you an opportunity to consider other options, i.e., another preferred roommate, before the space is reassigned.
