Program Housing: Baldwin / Women's Collective

Baldwin / Women's Collective

Baldwin Cottage is the home of the Women's Collective, a close-knit community that provides women and transgendered persons with a safe space for discussion, communal living and personal development. Built in 1886, Baldwin is one of the earliest residence halls on campus with beautiful stone architecture, high ceilings and large windows. The cottage lives true to its name with a piano lounge and many nooks and corners perfect for reading, studying and conversing with fellow house members.

Approximately 35 students live in Baldwin, enjoying events ranging from dance and vocal performances to lecture series on feminist ideas, art shows and poetry readings. All residents collectively manage the cottage with the weekly meetings to decide on new programs or address various feminist topics. Women and transgendered persons of any race, nationality, religion or sexual orientation are welcome to apply.

Located inside Baldwin is the Third World Co-op. The Co-op is not associated with the mission of the house but Co-op and house members all get along. Similar to Baldwin's residential floors acting as a safe space, the Third World Co-op is considered a safe space for those who dine there.
