Tank
Located five minutes east of campus by foot, Tank is a large house with a wrap-around porch, spacious front lawn and tree swings. The house was once an orphanage and now has a variety of room plans, all of generous proportions including rooms with turrets! Additionally, some rooms have large, skylight windows while the stairwells showcase stained glass windows and the lounge houses an ornamental fireplace.
Providing housing for roughly 40 students, Tank feeds another 30 students. Both those who live and eat in Tank are chosen by random lottery each year. The kitchen is equipped to prepare meat, though vegetarian food is often the base of TankÕs cuisine. Decisions about whether or not the house will serve meat are made at the beginning of the year by all members.
Required of all Oberlin Student Cooperative Association (OSCA) members is a weekly task equitably divided between the members. Tasks can range from cooking and cleaning to event planning and organization. Make sure to fill out an application if you want to live or dine here.
