PROCEDURES FOR ORDERING TRANSCRIPTS

How do I order an official transcript?

Ordering a transcript of your academic coursework at Oberlin is easy - just send us the following information either in a letter or by downloading our transcript request form at http://www.oberlin.edu/regist/TranscriptReq.html

1. The name and address where you wish the transcript sent (please include the correct zipcode)

2. Your current name (and your name when you attended Oberlin if different)

3. Your ID or Social Security Number

4. Your signature (required by Federal Law, which is why we cannot accept phone requests)

5. Approximate dates of attendance or date of degree

6. Your daytime phone number of e-mail address (so we may contact you, if necessary)

Is there a fee for transcripts?

A $5 fee is charged for each official transcript requested and payment should accompany the written request. There is no charge for unofficial transcripts.

We accept cash, check and money orders. Make checks payable to "Oberlin College." We are unable to accept payment by credit card

What if I have a hold on my record?

Transcripts will not be processed if the student has a financial obligation to the college. In addition, in certain circumstances, a judicial matter may prevent us from releasing a transcript. The student is responsible for contacting the Registrar's Office when the obligation has been met in order to have the transcript processed.

How quickly will my transcript arrive?

Transcripts are usually processed within five working days EXCEPT during peak registration, grade processing or transcript periods (usually December, January and June). Please plan accordingly if you are tyring to meet a deadline.

If I need a transcript more quickly, will you fax it for me?

We will not fax transcripts; our transcripts print on "security paper" and the fax process obliterates the print. Additionally, most schools and employers will not accept anything but the official transcript printed on security paper.

What if I just want an unofficial transcript sent to me?

Students may request unofficial copies of their transcripts. The information listed above applies, but there is no charge. Unofficial transcripts may only be sent directly to the student.

To order an unofficial transcript, you may write us a letter which includes the above information or print the Request for Oberlin College Transcript form, fill it out and send it in.

Don't need a transcript - just need enrollment or degree verified?

You may print out the Request for Verification of Student Enrollment and send it to us.

Questions? Do not hesitate to call Polly Hager, our transcript clerk, at 440-775-8450 during regular business hours (M-F 8:00 am - noon and 1:00 pm - 4:30 pm).
