Job Description: The College Recyclers work closely with the Oberlin College Departments of Environmental Health and Safety, Environmental Studies, Buildings and Grounds, Custodial Services, Administration, Environmental Policy Standing Committee, Oberlin Student Cooperative Association and the City of Oberlin Recycling program to oversee and improve the college's current recycling system. Tasks include monitoring and distribution of recycling bins, making free notebooks from reused paper, developing and implementing new recycling and source reduction projects, researching more environmentally-friendly products for the college to purchase, and educating students, faculty, and staff about environmental issues. The Recyclers have also been involved in organizing events such as Earth Day activities, the annual clothing swap, and tabling in Wilder; many more possibilities exist.

Qualifications: Students looking to apply should be highly motivated, responsible, and willing to work with students, staff and college faculty professionally on a daily basis to ensure a consistent and successful recycling program.

Time Commitment: variable: 6-13 hrs/week - preferably at least 10 hrs/wk
Wage: $6.50 & up (opportunities for increases)

Operations/logistics: program implementation in purchasing, reclamation and monitoring.
Communications coordination: Networking with the CDS recyclers, the service pool recycling staff, and college administration
Research source reduction opportunities on campus (i.e. purchasing of recycled paper and paper towels, energy use reduction, etc.).
Education and activities coordination: coordination of educational events; includes web design if desired.
OSCA recycling contact - responsible for ensuring OSCA recyclers are trained; oversees OSCA recycling.
