MASS ON A SPRING WITH FORCE AND MOTION SENSORS

 mass on a spring

APPARATUS
laptop w/ LoggerPro, "SHM" expt file 206
interface box 107-02-B3
motion sensor 101-05-B1
force sensor 101-05-B2
cage 101-05-A
spring 101-05-B3
50-g weight hanger 101-05-C1
masses 101-05-C

DESCRIPTION
Computer and sensors are used to monitor and plot force on sensor and position of mass in real time.  One can plot x, v, a, F, K, U, K+U vs. t or x.
Overlay x vs t graphs for different masses to show that T is proportional to m1/2.

NOTES

Use cage to protect motion sensor from falling masses.
Zero force sensor in vertical position before collecting data.
Check that force sensor # agrees with calibration file.
k = 3.2 N/m.
