MASS ON A SPRING WITH FORCE AND MOTION SENSORS

 mass on a spring

APPARATUS
pc w/ LoggerPro, "SHM" expt file 105
interface box 105
motion sensor 105-36-B2
force sensor 105-36-B3
cage 105-36-A6
spring 105-36-B4
50-g weight hanger 105-36-C1
masses 105-36-D

DESCRIPTION
Computer and sensors are used to monitor and plot force on sensor and position of mass in real time.  One can plot x, v, a, F, K, U, K+U vs. t or x.
Overlay x vs t graphs for different masses to show that T is proportional to m1/2.

NOTES

Use cage to protect motion sensor from falling masses.
Zero force sensor in vertical position before collecting data.
Check that force sensor # agrees with calibration file.
Enter room temperature under Calibrate/Details.
k = 3.2 N/m.
