DESCRIPTION
Produce longitudinal standing
waves in an aluminum rod by holding the rod at a node (marked on the
rod) and stroking the rod along its length with a piece of
chamois. The rod should be rubbed with rosin or the chamois
dipped in rosin powder first. Holding the rod at the center
produces the fundamental, 1/4 of the way from the end produces the 2nd
harmonic, 1/6 of the way from the end produces the 3rd harmonic etc.
