Focus a camera or the overhead
projector on the ruler or a page of print. Place the plexiglas
block on the ruler and adjust the focus for the image of the ruler
viewed through the block. Locate the position of the image by
moving a pencil next to the block until it is in sharp focus. The
index of refraction of the block = real depth/apparent depth.
