WEIGHTED FRISBEE

frisbee

APPARATUS
weighted frisbee with flashlight bulbs 202-15-E2
foam rubber landing pad 202-01-A

DESCRIPTION
Off-center weighted frisbee has two flashlight bulbs, one at its geometric center and the other at its center of mass.  The bulbs can be switched on independently.  Toss frisbee in the air with bulb at center lit to show that the angular velocity remains constant even while the linear velocity changes.  Use the other bulb to show that the center of mass follows a parabolic path regardless of the rotation of the frisbee.

NOTES

Have someone catch the frisbee, or let it fall on the foam rubber pad, so that it isn't damaged by hitting the ground.

Frisbee takes two AA batteries, inserted so that both positive ends point toward the rim.
