Pull slowly on the spring scale to
show how
the force of static friction increases to some maximum value until the
block begins to move. Then a lesser force, offsetting the force
of
kinetic friction, is needed to pull the block along the table at a
constant
velocity.

Wipe off table so surface is dust-free.

reading
on spring scale is visible.
