DESCRIPTION

Show how corn grows in a rotating reference frame.

 

NOTES

 

Use 78 rpm.

Angle from vertical is given by:

 

tan  θ	= (Fc/Fg)
	= v2/rg
	= ω 2r/g
	= (2π *78 rev/60 s)2 (0.1m) / (9.8m/s2)
	= 0.68
θ	= 34°

Plant corn about two weeks before demo is to be shown.  Plant in ring about 10 cm in radius.  Set plant light off to side so that effect cannot be attributed to light-seeking behavior of plants.

Also used as corridor display.
