Cylinder has four holes at different
heights
along one side. Fill with water and remove corks to show increase
in pressure with depth as evidenced by the greater velocity of efflux
from
the lower holes.
One can show that the maximum range
is obtained
from a hole halfway between the top of the water and the surface on
which
it lands.
NOTES
Set up water squirter next to sink
on large
demonstration bench.
Water leaks from corked holes, so
leave beaker
of water and paper towels with set-up.
Leave bright yellow cork in
cylinder; it is
used as an indicator of the water level.
