FLEXIBLE FARADAY CAGE

APPARATUS
Wimshurst machine or electrophorus 202-18-C
flexible faraday cage 202-33-A
camera 113-03-C

DESCRIPTION
Charge the mesh sheet with the Wimshurst machine or the electrophorus and the foil leaves will deflect.  Bend the sheet into a circle and the leaves on the inside will drop, indicating they are no longer charged, while those on the outside remain charged.  Bend into a circle the other way and the leaves which are now on the inside will drop while the outside leaves deflect.

Use the third rod to bend the sheet into a teardrop shape to show that the smaller the radius of curvature, the greater the deflection of the leaves.
